You're probably wondering what the purpose of RSS is. The idea is that a program (a news), a small text file (a feed) of this website by collecting, you know when the site updated. The advantage is that you can read the news without the website. The real power in this way is that you can track multiple sites.

What is RSS?

RSS is the English acronym for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It is an application of XML and is used by websites for links to articles available to a wider audience.

Websites offering RSS, writing a piece of XML code containing the title, short description and link to various articles. Periodically collects and bundles the new articles (the newsfeed), and sends it to the user.

The big advantage is that, as the reader you choose in advance which topics interest you so that you only receive the information.

What do I need to be able to use RSS?

Om gebruik te kunnen maken van RSS heb je een speciale nieuwslezer of 'verzamelaar' nodig die de inhoud van de door jou geselecteerde websites toont. Er zijn veel verschillende nieuwslezers beschikbaar, vaak gratis. Je kan ze je op een eenvoudige manier downloaden en installeren. Er bestaan ook verschillende webgebaseerde nieuwslezers op het internet.

Once you have selected and installed a newsreader, you should not do more than your (free) to the desired section. On Google you can find an overview of whether free newsreaders.

What are the benefits of RSS?

RSS is an easy way to always be aware of the latest information on your chosen topics. You should not constantly skim the various websites to see if new information is online. With RSS, you are automatically notified when something new appears.
